How to use phpbb on Grand Challenge

This page contains a list of helpful hints/tips and should be regarded as more of an FAQ than a users manual (as these exist for phpbb, but it is also pretty simple to get to grips with - especially if you have used the Wiki more frequently than never (although the tags use square brackets in phpbb.

Adding images (from the Wiki) to a phpbb posting

This is slightly convoluted, as the phpbb bulletins require that you specify which image you want to insert by using the full URL of the image

• Get Firefox - http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ --> Get the Fox!
  • This is a good idea generally if you are using a PC (you poor thing), although in case this is being read by an Opera zealot, I am sure that most good browsers will support this functionality, however I have not checked
• Navigate to a place on the Wiki where the image is displayed NOT the image of Alice in the top left hand corner - this image is a link to the main page, and hence the link attached to it is for the main page of the Wiki, not the image
• Right-click (or <ctrl> + <click> if you are an enlightened Mac user) on the image you want and select "Copy Image Location" - this will copy the URL of the image to your clipboard, now go into the phpbb post, and select the 'Image' button at the top of the editing window, and then paste the URL in to link the image to your post (it should now be displayed when you submit the post).
  • If you are a Mac OSX user using Safari, then the process is the same, albeit you should select "Copy Link To Clipboard" from the menu
